As the curator of DEPART I facilitated and supported James Hornsby’s exclusive DEC2020/Collection of wearables in response to DEPART.

Associate artist and creator behind Chronic Bone, James Hornsby, has developed an exclusive range of wearable artworks in response to the thematic drivers behind Onespace Gallery’s upcoming exhibition DEPART.

By combining photographs with surrealist-style digital manipulation, Hornsby comments on our lived experience and distorted reality. Using a bold, over-saturated colour pallet, each wearable can be viewed as a psychedelic statement of both chaos and catharsis. By reflecting on our reliance on lounge-wear as well technology during isolation, each garment considers the comfort as well as the anxiety both the physical and digital realms provided us in 2020.

Existing as wearable artworks, each work holds ability to be inhabited by its collector. Made within and responding to this year, each one-off wearable piece acts as a keepsake of our unique experience and is a time stamp prior to entering 2021.
